| Here is a color chart of all 216 "websafe" colors which are supposed to look the same on ALL browsers, according to Netscape. However, according to tests run by an independent researcher, some of these colors still will register differently on various browsers or versions of the same browser. The hues, shades and tints are arranged in groups of six cells across and six rows down, so you can see the logical progression from darkest to lightest. A line of the gray scale separates each group. The first two digits represent the red values; the middle two digits the green values; and the last two digits the blue values. From this chart it is easy to see that mixing red and green results in oranges and yellows. Equal levels of all three values will produce the gray scale. This is because colors produced by light do not work the same as colors produced with pigments.
