The following results were obtained using Arbor Image Magick.
This tutorial is for those who know how to load an image at Image Magick.

With Crop, we can take some width off of either side, some height from the top or bottom, from one side plus either top or bottom, or Crop even borders off all the way around, or remove one section of the inside, of an image.

In the Transform parameter box:

positive number means the left side (1st number) or the top (2nd number).

negative number means the right side (1st number) or the bottom (2nd number).

A: Crop Left or Right Side Only (1st number):

Use the example image for practice. It is 459x350.

Input image. Click on the Transform tab.

In the parameter box, type in: +50-0 (left side) or -50-0 (right side). Click radio button beside Crop.

NOTE: with a 0, it doesn't matter whether you put a plus or a minus sign in front of it.

Scroll down and click on Gravity. Set it at Northwest.

NOTE: Click on the Transform button. When you see the cropped image, you'll see the outline of the full-sized image to the left or right of your crop. Altho this can cause problems later, it's a useful feature for checking when making a crop from inside the image. But this time, hit your Back key.

Scroll down and check the little box "Reset page geometry." This will get rid of the excess space.

Scroll up and click on Transform button.

Result left side 409x350. Result right side 409x350.

B: Crop Top or Bottom Only (2nd number):

Use the same original from above. Transform again. Remember that in the parameter box, the second number is always the height. So this time type in -0+50 (from top) or -0-50 (from bottom).

Click the radio button beside Crop.

Set Gravity to Northwest.

Check the little box "Reset page geometry." Click on the Transform key.

Result top 459x300. Result bottom 459x300.

C: Crop One Side Plus Top or Bottom:

Crop Left and Top: +50+50 ~ Result

Crop Right and Bottom: -50-50 ~ Result
