F/X Recolor
An Image Magick Tute by Flo
Recolor is found at Koya, Arbor and Redux Image Magicks under the F/X tab. At present (December 23, 2006) these are the only IMs having this new feature.
Recolor needs 25 numbers! An example would be:
2.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0,
1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0,
1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0,
1.0, 0.0, 0.2, 0.2, 0.2, 0.0, 1.0
When you enter these numbers into the box at Image Magick, you must string them all together in one line.
1st line is the red channel, 2nd line green and 3rd line blue.
4th line is for the "translations" scale, shear, rotate, but for pixels, not for the image as a whole.
There are 7 numbers in this 4th line. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th represent the red, green and blue channels respectively. Note that they are 0.2 each, which means 20% of each color has been added (according to Mr. Cristy).
But so far I haven't figured out what the 1st two and the last 2 represent in this last line.
The relationships of color quantity among the 3 channels seem to be controlled by the 1st number in each line. Note that in the above example, there are 2.0 parts of red to 1.0 part each of green and blue.
