ORDERED DITHER

an Image Magick Tute by Flo
NOTE: Presently (October 13, 2006) the only Image Magicks that have Ordered Dither installed in Colormap are: Koya IM, Redux IM and Arbor IM. Check the other IMs periodically to see whether Mr. Cristy has installed Ordered Dither in them.
Ordered Dither gives 14 different semi-screen effects. Some of these will cover the whole image, but others will cover only parts of an image. Below are some examples:

DIRECTIONS
  1. Take any image to the IMs above, and once you have the View screen, click on Colormap.


  2. Delet the default 256 in the parameter box. Select any of the parameters listed below and type in the numbers and letters. Pease note that the lower case letters "a" and "h" and "o" are used in some but not all of these parameters.


  3. Uncheck Dither. Check Ordered Dither.


  4. Click on Quantize. Check the result.


  5. If you like the result, proceed as you would normally to Output and TL the image. If you do not like the result, use the Back key and try another parameter.


NOTE: Output at 70% or less quality, as these Ordered Dither screens produce quite large file sizes.
