With this unique tool, we can render certain colors within an image transparent. Why would we want to do this? Because we can overlay the gif onto the original image or onto a different background for a unique effect.

You can find most of Dave's Tools here - Dave's Tools Index page. But as of this date: August 30, 2006, this particular tool is not on the index page.

  1. Click on the Transparify Certain Colors tool.

  2. Enter the url of the image into the top blue box, and change the output name.

  3. Choose which color(s) you want to render transparent. I'd suggest using only one or 2 colors, although there are 6 color slots.

  4. Color Grabber link if you need it. After you've gotten the color(s), use the Back key to return to the tool page.

  5. Transparency: this figure should be low, like only 5-15%.

  6. Click on the radio button and look at your results. If you want to change anything, use the Back button. Click on the finished image and TL as usual.

Remember: We are limited only in our imaginations and creativity. Note: the title image for my Dave's Tools Tutes index page was transparified with this tool, using 30%. The original had a white bg.
