Dave has 8 tools classified under Image Merging. The 8th, Morphing, is for animations, which we are not dealing with in this tute.
You can find all of Dave's Tools here - Dave's Tools Index page. The Imaging Merging section is the 2nd section from the top.
BLENDER-DISSOLVER:
- Put the url of the smaller image into your Find key box. Carry the url of the background image in your memory, just like you would do if you were going to work in an Image Magick tool.
- Click on this link: Blender-Merger Tool, or use Dave's Index (url above).
- Paste the url of the background or larger image into the first blue text area. Copy the url of the overlay or smaller image from your Find key box into the 2nd blue text box.
- Change the default name of the image in the next blue box AND change the extension to .gif or .png if you want that output type instead of the default .jpg. If you do NOT change the name, you may end up with another image.
- Select the Gravity from the drop-down menu.
- Leave the Tile OFF unless you want the overlay image to tile.
- Offsets: leave setting as +0 unless you want to move the overlay image slightly.
- Percent of background versus overlay to show: default is 70-30. Change to 60-40 or some other proportion as desired. Remember, numbers should add up to 100.
- Below this are two radio buttons. One for Blend; one for Dissolve. Try them one at a time, to see which result you like the best. The results may be different for different images.
- Clicking on either radio button will get you a new screen with your composited image result. If you want to change it, use your Back key, make the desired changes and then click on a radio button again.
- When you see the result you like, click on the image to get the temorary url. TL to your File Manager or Page Builder.
The porch (1st number) was the background; The gargoyle (2nd number) was the overlay.
GRADIENT, FRACTAL, PLASMA BY PERCENT:
This tool works exactly the same way as the Blender-Dissolver, except this time you will be compositing only one image with a gradient, fractal or plasma background image made by Dave's tool.
- Write down the width and height of your image.
- Have the url of the image in your memory. Click here, Grad-Fractal-Plasma tool, or select from Dave's Index.
- Paste the url of your image in the top blue box, and change the name.
- Enter the width and height of your image in the proper boxes.
- Select gravity from the drop-down menu.
- To select the color of the background, follow Dave's simple directions. Use either the hex code (#ff9966) or the color name.
- From here on, follow the directions in steps number 6-11 in the first set of directions above.
I used the Blend button this time. Grad colors: skyblue & burlywood.
Sometimes there's quite a difference between Dissolve and Blend (the 2 radio buttons at the bottom of the tool page).
